Rant: Belle en het Beest's naming

Moshi-moshi, minna-tachi!

So I feel bored at the moment while downloading Fate/Prototype Drama CD and I don't want to look at the dialogues in Kiss Anthology or conjuring up paragraphs of an RP character point of view then I thought why not post something else here.

This is totally a rant about my WIP spin-off fic and really trivia so please ignore this as I most likely will only bore the heck out of you.

The particular spin-off fic that I'm talking about is Belle en het Beest, Dutch for Beauty and the Beast, and is based on In the Moonlight by aicchan. Basically the story is revolves around how Minos and Albafica met and got together. I have it change POV every chapter, like how some novels do—since the story is actually written by Albafica, who works as a freelance novelist in ITM. This has been implied since the very first chapter, with Camus finding a book titled Belle en het Beest and decided to read it.

Do you understand that? No? Okay, moving on.

I'm going to start rambling about the names I gave to the characters.

As you know, most of Saint Seiya characters have no surname known to readers. They have titles, though, like Pegasus Seiya, Sagittarius Aiolos, etc. I don't know if the mangaka(s) are just too lazy to think up surnames or think it's unecessary since the setting is European so basically it's okay go rude by calling others on first name basis or they're imitating some other series where only really important people get to have surnames (like for example Suikoden's aristocratic characters) but the basic idea is: most of them don't have surnames.

This kind of irks me as I'm pretty fond of writing AU and happy fic for them (because the fandom doesn't need more angst element than it already has) and it's just weird if say that in a High School AU when a teacher is calling the roster something like this happens:

Teacher: Nakajima-kun.
Student A: Yes.
Teacher: Sakuragi-san.
Student B: Yes, ma'am.
Teacher: Seiya-kun.
Seiya: Yeaaah.

Like, no.
Seiya is not his surname so I'm not going to accept this kind of thing /fliptables

So I gave these characters last names. Though I came up with them only when I arrive to the part where I make someone refers to the character by last name and not long before that, know that I gave a long thought when I came up with these names. Because, you know. A name is the first gift that your parents gave you, so it's important. See how I do it here.

Right now there are only two characters in Belle en het Beest who had a full name, and they're part of the royal family—Lugonis and Albafica. For Lugonis, I gave him the name Lugonis Alseis Challwa and Albafica's Albafica Quina Challwa. I'll tell you why I gave them the middle names and the last name.

Challwa is their family name. They're member of a dynasty, a ruling family of the current generation. Just like how Princess Rose Guinea Avalon of Chronicle 2nd came from Avalon dynasty. The origin of Challwa name came from Quechua language for fish. Obviously, this relates to the fact that both are Pisces Gold Saints.

The reason I choose Quechua language is because it's one of language used in South American countries, such as Ecuador. Why Ecuador? Well, some people (or me) have a headcanon that Lugonis (or his family) came from Ecuador, since he is named after a plant native to the country.

Alseis, if you look up with google help, is a species of plant which complete scientific name is Alseis lugonis. As mentioned before, this plant is endemic in Ecuador.

That particular plant is part of Rubiaceae family, which links us to Quina. Quina or quinine (also widely known as Chinchona), is also a connected to Ecuador. In this case, it is considered the national tree of Ecuador, although unofficial. It is originally discovered by Quechua people, and was first used to cure malaria disease.

So you see, when I try to name the characters, I try to link the name to them with a little bit of twist. Indeed, I tried to go the easy way and name them after rose species but no, it just doesn't feel 'right' to me. I'm also planning to conjure up full name for Pefko and Luco, because they're part of the royal family, and Shion, too, for he is the supreme general of the kingdom's army.

Perhaps I should think up a full name for Minos too, considering I have him as the son of one of the very first vampires created, so his status is actually something like a vampire prince, but... nah...

Hello Saint Seiya fandom!

Let me ask you one question:

Do you like Saint Seiya: Meiou Shinwa or better known as Saint Seiya: the Lost Canvas?

You do? Well, I do, too.

I mean, duuuuudee.

Teshirogi sure can draw! And think of good plot-... nah who are we kidding. She's like, Queen of Angst! She loves drawing handsome men angsting over things like family, siblings, friends, etc

And there's the anime, where the characters are all moving in good color and graphic and awww we're all cheering for it because it's so promising and attracting new fans because of the goodness and we're all disappointed when it stopped airing for God knows why.

Yeah, yeah, SSLC is really good. I love it. You love it. We all love it.

But, DUUUUUUUUUDEEEE.

Saint Seiya Classic, Next Dimension, Episode G, and Omega don't lose to LC in terms of coolness, you know.

I mean, okay they have their own weaknesses like the manga version of Classic and ND is unappealing because it's drawn in the old generation manga style that Kurumada continues to use. Episode G is more or less the same. Omega is directed by an anime director who produced a successful battle maiden anime series.

BUT DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDDDDEEEEE.

Stop it with OVERSHIPPING LC, won't you?

Like, there are those who think that it would be better if LC is redrawn by Teshirogi. Even though the idea is very attractive to me too, try to think about it.

Kurumada Masami was the one who gave birth to the series we came to love: Saint Seiya.

His brain gave birth to the idea of hot young men wearing shiny, heavy-looking armors that are based on constellations, relate Greek mythical stuffs with his own imagination, have those warriors fight evils, etc etc etc

WITHOUT him manifesting his ideas in the form of Saint Seiya, Teshirogi WILL NOT have ideas on making spin-off out of it. Neither does Okada.

SO.

Stop overshipping LC. Appreciate Classic more.

In fact, I think Japanese fans worship Classic more than they worship LC. Something about LC felt unoriginal because the characters basically are clones to the Classic ones. If I were to speak my opinion, it does give off that kind of vibe: LC is like a doujin... a fan manga of Saint Seiya.

Once again.

Stop overshipping LC. Appreciate Classic more. Give some love to ND and Episode G. Reduce the amount of 'boos' when it comes to Omega.

Each of them have their pluses and minuses.

If you say that you're a true fan of SS, then try to appreciate them and their respective creators, even if it's just a little bit.

Yoooosh, udah lama nggak nulis di blog ini! Sori, ternyata ngelabil di tumblr asyik juga, ya, meskipun kadang-kadang penghuninya bikin sakit hati *tabokin para sourceless posters*

Oke, jadi, di posting kali ini ada pengumuman tentang rencana Cerulean Crown--gue dan partner-in-crime gue, Sisil--untuk membuat fanfic tentang ajang pemberian penghargaan! Kali ini fandom yang akan jadi korban penistaan kami berdua adalah Saint Seiya. Yep, another anime fandom. Buodo amat. Lagi maniak-maniaknya sih. Ini salah seri spin-off itu...

(Lho, jadi curhat?)

Ahem... karena kita berdua udah pengalaman bikin beginian, jadi intinya gampang disimpulkan.

• Chapter pertama adegan pembukaan... red carpet, most probably. Sekalian ngumpulin voting yang bakal digunakan untuk menentukan pemenang-pemenang di chapter 2.
• Chapter terakhir itu Best Character dan All-Time Achievement, dan yang terakhir itu pilihan kami mutlak.
• Kemudian ngumpulin pendapat apakah mau ada chapter bonus berisi party yang super kacau

Yang bikin pusing cuma:

1. Jumlah award yang mau disebutin.
   Di atas 10 seperti Reborn! Award? Mati aja kitaaaa :|
2. Sistem votingnya.
   Oke, memang voting biasanya dilakuin lewat review (atau kalau mau ganti vote, bisa ngePM kita), tapi mengingat jumlah penghuni fandom yang sedikit dan tidak meyakinkan kalau mayoritas otaknya sinkron sehingga kami khawatir akan menyebabkan beberapa karakter sekaligus meraih satu award yang sama.
   Apakah harus diberlakukan aturan 1 award untuk SATU pemenang saja, atau 1 award boleh berbagi untuk 2 orang atau lebih?
   Atau perlu dilakukan kuis semacam yang dilakuin elita-san di Hetalia Awards-nya? Reviewer yang paling pertama memberi jawaban benar maka jumlah votingnya akan dilipatgandakan?
   Lalu, apa perlu diberi batas waktu sehingga vote yang masuk setelah lewat deadline akan dinyatakan invalid?

Kurang lebih itu aja sih. Masalah alur, jatah host, keputusan akan menghancurkan imej karakter baik dengan membuat mereka OOC atau apa, dan lain-lain alhamdulillah sudah beres. Tinggal dua di atas aja yang belum kelar lantaran tadi kebanyakan ngobrol ngalur ngidul modem melabil dan rapat terpaksa diberhentikan.

(Oke, sebenernya kita juga agak galau apakah mau melakukan self-insert atau reader-insert, tapi itu nggak penting, 'sih.)

Just a note

Minos Creta, a judge infamous for starting his career at a very young age and yet never fail to act accordingly anywhere, anytime. Despite being the youngest child in his family, upon his parents' death he was appointed to be the new family head.

Back in high school, he dated the school's primadonna, Albafica, for a short time. They broke up upon Albafica's request and he was told to forget about him. But he fell too deeply in love with the beauty that he decided to keep his hopes up.

Rhadamanthys Creta, second oldest among the Creta brothers. Like Minos, he works as a Judge though isn't quite well-known. He is aware that Minos is better than him in this aspect and he has more leader materials, thus the reason he willingly gives the position of the family head to that younger brother of his.

Currently engaged to the daughter of the Noir family, Pandora. It was just for business relationships, at first, but they eventually grew to love each other.

Sarpedon Creta, prefers to be called by his alias in work—Undertaker, is the eldest of the three brothers. He looked like his youngest brother a lot, and his youthful appearance often caused people to think that he was Minos' twin.

He was, however, disowned before Minos was born because he told his parents that he wanted to be an autopsy officer, going against their wish for him to follow his father's footsteps as a judge, when he was old and mature enough to make decisions on his own.

Albafica Gesso, once known as the most beautiful man in the country during his school years, but then disappeared without trace after a few months enrolling into an university. Only a few know that in truth he is undergoing chemotherapies to heal his cancer disease.

Yes, that was the reason he broke up with Minos. He was afraid that it would pain Minos to see him in such pitiful state, and there was chance that he would die from the illness. He said he would forget Minos, but even after years passed by, he couldn't do that.

Aphrodite Gesso, Albafica's younger brother and a famous model for girl's magazine (his agency is the one who decided to hide his gender—not that anyone could easily find out that she's actually a he). He was the one who paid for Albafica's therapies, though eventually he decided to ask Minos' help in secret.

.......... this is what happened when you're too immersed into two fandoms and, coincidentally, there are two characters that looked so much alike. And when you're stressed by assignments too.

Most likely I won't develop this settings into a fic because NO TIME. I did make a very short oneshot of it, though. Anyone would be interested in making a fic of it for me? *wriggle eyebrows*

... nama yang absurd.

Tapi ini nama official fanmade dari boyband Sanctuary, yang terdiri dari Capricorn Shura, Virgo Shaka, Gemini Saga dan Kanon, Aquarius Camus, dan Cancer Deathmask. Bahkan kadang-kadang Cygnus Hyoga ikut masuk ke dalam jajaran personel CV-GAC, tapi dia bukan anggota official. Cuman dancer dadakan yang sekali waktu diseret Camus ikutan untuk menggantikan personel yang sakit.

Yeah, saya masih ngotot mereka dipaksa Saori untuk ikut kontes boyband dan menang gara-gara tarian "Brand New Blue Jeans" mereka yang super kompak dan laugh-inducing itu.

Right. So, onto the first video!

Our most talented dancers among the Saints rank. Yes they are talented. If you don't understand, GO SEE THEM LAUNCHING THEIR TECHNIQUES. They're like ballerinas. (And at some point, I did find a video where Camus did some kind of warming up moves while wearing leotard, just like some danseurs out there LOL!)

Okay, so... with Camus and Hyoga walking together to the dance stage. The video maker makes it as if they're talking about something which makes Hyoga happy. Then they start dancing so HAPPILY. Yes, you read it right. Happily. They are dancing while SMILING. That freezer, Camus, is SMILING. And as if that's not enough to make your heart goes doki doki, you'll receive HAATO ATAAACK with winks. If I'm such an extreme person, I know I would've died.

Overall, this video receives high rating from me because 1) the model is good, 2) the dance move matches well with the music and 3) VERY EPIC. However, I see some fails here and there. Like, in the middle of it, one of Camus' sidebangs (or sideburns... or whatever it's called) suddenly got stuck around his neck. But it makes the video seems natural because, you know, if you jump and move around a lot, sooner or later your hair will be stuck to your neck or cheek or whatever. The more epic fail is when the same part of his hair float mysteriously like whoa. I didn't notice the first time I watched the vid, but while making this (crappy) review I saw that and laughed like mad.

So... conclusion? If you need some nice laugh, go watch this vid. If you don't find their dance funny (which is unlikely... I mean, THOSE HIPS) at least you'll be comforted with their SMILE and HAATO ATAAAACK.

Procrastinating is bad

Well, as many of you would've known already, procrastination is bad. Really bad. It usually happens when you're on hiatus, and it can makes your writer's block worsen.

But that's not what I'm going to discuss about. More like, I'm trying to rant about mangaka and their tendency to make their characters background to be a confusing one. Our main subject today is Virgo Shaka, a character from ye olde anime Saint Seiya.

For this same reason Shaka refuses to go clubbing with the rest of the Gold Saints.

Virgo Shaka is a Gold Saint, known to be a prodigy since early age because he received the status when he was 7 years old. Some also called him "Man Closest to God", acknowledging his supreme strength. It was assumed that he was the reincarnation of Gautama Buddha due to that power and his birthplace (India). He was introduced to be a faithful Buddhist (but strangely works for a Greek Goddess...) and loves to preach people with his immense knowledge about the religion's teachings. Many assumed that he's a good friend of Mu, due to their image as "good, untainted with negativity of modern world" boys.

There, your quick summary about Shaka. Now let me tell you the main question:

"What school/tradition does Shaka follows?"

Well, many fans might not care so much about it, but I do. Mainly because I'm trying to make Shaka a proper Buddhist, much more than depicted in the series, and in order to do that I need to know what school he's in.

As you would've known (or probably you don't), Buddhist has many branches or schools/traditions. To name a few, there are Mahayana, Vajrayana, Theravada, Pali, Hinayana, Tibetan, and Chinese. Then you'll probably wonder if I'm going to read articles on each schools from Wikipedia, one by one, then later decide which school to put him in. But, nay, I won't. It was too much work. There are easier ways to decide.

First, let's find something that'll make people, who never watched Saint Seiya or know who Shaka is, think that he is a faithful Buddhist. There are: 1) his meditating pose, and 2) his rosary beads. His meditating pose can't be used to identify what school he's in because it's a very typical pose of a Buddhist monk / priest / whatever. That leaves the rosary beads.

Now, if you search for rosary beads in Google Search, you'll eventually stumble upon an article about Buddhist prayer beads. Yes, that's what it's supposed to be called. Now, opening that article, your eyes will or will not immediately caught sight of '108 beads' written in said article. Remember, Shaka's rosary beads also have 108 beads.

Moving on. You'll read that there are two schools who used 108 beads when chanting mantra. One is Tibetan Buddhism and the other is Theravada Buddhism. How to decide which one is Shaka's school, then? Simple. The article said that the 108 beads, seik badi (or badi for short) is used in Theravada Buddhism in Burma. We've learned that Shaka hails from India, so he can't possible learn about seik badi. Then the result is obvious: he follows Tibetan Buddhism.

You might be thinking that Tibetan Buddhism is a school only for those Buddhist followers in Tibet. But you're wrong. People from a few regions close to Himalayas, such as Nepal, Buthan, and India also followed Tibetan teachings.

This revelation allows more headcanons to be made. Like, the reason Mu is on good terms with Shaka maybe because they, when intending to go back to their homelands, often travel together. Tibet is, after all, located north-east of Himalayas, and Himalayas itself is bordering with northern India. (Also, the reason Shion and Dohko are close? Not only because they're about the same age, become apprentice at around the same time, and lived through 18th century Holy War, but it can be assumed that they visit each other's hometown often. China and Tibet are practically next to each other, after all.)

You'll say, why did he train close to the Ganges river, which is technically located at the west part of India, if he came from norther India? The answer is headcanon: perhaps his power is recognized at young age, and thus he was sent to that place to polish his skill. Who knows? I certainly don't.

...

Conclusion? It takes thorough researches a lot of your procrastinating time to explain the background of a character. Especially if the mangaka doesn't put a lot of effort to do so themselves.

I mean... LOOK AT HOW MANY PARAGRAPHS I WROTE UP THERE JUST TO REACH A PLAUSIBLE CONCLUSION THAT HE FOLLOWS TIBETAN BUDDHISM. And it took some hours to gather the info and not to mention connecting them to each other so normal logic can accept it.

Seriously, sometimes it irritates me if the background of a character isn't explained clearly and clash with reality. Sure, fictional stuffs doesn't have to match real life facts because that's why they're called fictional. But, hey. Don't they think that it'll be far more interesting if there are cultural reasons or something that influences their characters to behave like so and so? Instead they tend to make their characters immerses with the cultures from their homelands.

Jadi, setelah sadar bahwa diriku benar-benar cinta sama yang namanya tokoh antagonis... sekarang diriku sadar diriku menyukai banyak tokoh bertitel 'Thanatos'.

There are something incredibly charming about them being the God of Death. Not to be compared with Hades' unbelievably dazzling dark charms, though *dor*

Well, mari mulai showing off beberapa 'Thanatos' yang diriku sukai!



Mereka cakep-cakep, 'kan? Oh tentu sajaaaaaaa. Mataku tak pernah salah menilai *sok*

Oh, sekalian kujelaskan perbedaan beberapa Thanatos ini ya. Monggo di klik gambarnya satu-satu kalo kalian males ngescroll :)

Thanatos - MYth
Karena sejauh ini di cerita MYth tidak ada adegan perang atau bunuh-bunuhan, diriku merasa Thanatos yang satu ini paling jauh dari canon Thanatos a.k.a. Thanatos di mitos Yunani yang asli.

Si ganteng yang menutup matanya entah karena apa (alasan tidak diketahui karena sidestory tentang hubungan Thanatos dan Hades belum digambar oleh Zelda, pemilik hak cipta si Thanatos satu ini) ini bekerja sebagai semacam asisten Hades, Dewa paling bertanggung jawab se-MYth *bias*

Thanatos ini tidak luput dari sifat jahil seperti dua orang Thanatos lainnya. Dia pernah menyuruh Persephone, istri Hades, untuk mencium sang Dewa Bawah Tanah agar Hades bangun dari tidurnya. Tapi Thanatos yang ini mungkin yang terkalem dan paling bertanggung jawab setelah Thanatos-nya SanHora.

Thanatos - Persona 3
Thanatos ter-manusiawi dari keempat Thanatos di entry ini. Manusiawi karena dia menjelma menjadi manusia sampai-sampai melupakan jati dirinya (meski hanya sementara waktu, sih -_-). Dia juga yang paling jahil, dan sifatnya yang flirtatious yang membuat saya menyimpulkan bahwa dia manusiawi.

Soal perbandingan canon atau tidaknya dia dibandingkan canon!Thanatos... yah, lumayan lah. Role-nya di Persona Compendium jelas menyatakan bahwa dia Thanatos dari mitologi Yunani. Dia juga jago dalam masalah mencabut nyawa. Dan dia dekat dengan Hypnos (Minato) si tukang tidur.

Ngomong-ngomong, hubungan Thanatos yang satu ini bisa juga dibandingkan dengan Thanatos dari fandom Saint Seiya. Ryoji "Thanatos" Mochizuki dimusuhi oleh Aegis, yang memiliki Persona "Athena". Dan tentunya Thanatos dan Athena dari fandom Saint Seiya bermusuhan. Sudah takdir, mungkin, untuk Dewi Perang bermusuhan dengan Dewa Kematian?

Thanatos - Saint Seiya
Dewa yang punya aura gelap-gelap memang identik dengan warna hitam, tapi Thanatos yang satu ini dan juga MYth!Thanatos cocok dengan warna putih keperakan, ya? (Iya saya tau yang ada digambar itu rambutnya hitam, tapi Thanatos yang asli itu rambutnya putih perak kok =_=)

Kembaran dari Hypnos dan bekerja sebagai salah satu Dewa kepercayaan Hades yang setia pada sang Dewa Kegelapan, Thanatos yang satu ini yang paling dekat dengan Thanatos di mitologi Yunani. Tentunya karena fandom Saint Seiya memang mencoba jadi se-canon mungkin dengan mitologi yang aslinya. Garis bawahi kata mencoba, karena Kurumada sang pemegang hak cipta atas fandom ini tidak memberikan hint sedikitpun bahwa Persephone ada dan merupakan istri Hades. PADAHAL ITU 'KAN BIAS SAYA *nangis*

Ahem. Sejauh yang saya tahu, dia paling tidak kalem di antara keempat Thanatos. Ryoji masuk ke dalam serious!angsty!Thanatos begitu semua ingatannya kembali, tapi Thanatos lebih emosian dibanding Hypnos, kakaknya. Hubungan si kembar ini lumayan mirip dengan Ryoji-Minato, di mana Ryoji lebih ekspresif daripada Minato yang stoic total.

Thanatos - Sound Horizon
Satu-satunya yang tidak berperan sebagai asisten dari keempat Thanatos yang ada. Thanatos yang ini adalah Dewa Kematian yang menguasai Hades, wilayah di mana mereka yang mati tinggal.

Meski sifatnya sangat dekat dengan canon!Thanatos, tapi backgroundnya bukan Thanatos banget. Canon!Thanatos adalah anak Nyx si Dewi Malam, sementara SanHora!Thanatos adalah anak Moira si Dewi Kehidupan. Anak yang kontras dengan ibunya, begitulah. Dan lagi, tidak ada tanda-tanda Hypnos di dalam 6th Horizon: Moira (which makes me sad *le sobs*).

Masalah perannya di dalam fandom, dia adalah Dewa Kematian yang ingin menyelamatkan umat manusia dari penderitaan yang mereka alami selama hidup. Jadi supaya nggak menderita, mending mati saja, begitulah prinsipnya Thanatos. Sebenarnya dia anak baik (pengen nolong manusia), tapi caranya dipandang salah -_- *tepuk-tepuk Thanatos*

Nah! Segitu saja dulu.

Oh, and do notice the pt.1 in the title of the entry. Itu artinya akan ada pt.2, di mana saya akan membahas Hades-Hades yang saya sukai. Yes, Hades. Who can resist that darling, huh?

Udah lama ga ngeblog pada akhirnya hanya menjalankan tugas sebagai Sie. Humas fandom KHR Indo untuk mengsosialisasikan sebuah acara spektakuler *lebay* berjudul IFA 2010!

Apa itu IFA 2010?

A. About IFA

IFA adalah singkatan dari Indonesian Fanfiction Awards, sebuah ajang penghargaan bagi karya dan author fanfiksi berbahasa Indonesia terbaik yang dibagi dalam beberapa kategori.

IFA pertama kali diadakan pada tahun 2008, dan awalnya dilaksanakan terbatas di Infantrum dengan metode penjurian. Pada tahun 2009, IFA mulai disosialisasikan keluar Infantrum dan dilaksanakan dengan metode polling. Untuk tahun 2010 ini, IFA direncanakan benar-benar dijalankan dengan seimbang baik di dalam maupun di luar Infantrum agar lebih menjangkau fandom-fandom yang memiliki fanfiksi berbahasa Indonesia, dan sebisa mungkin menggunakan sistem yang mudah diakses oleh semua orang.

B. IFA 2010

Tahun ini, IFA akan menggunakan metode penjaringan nominasi melalui online-sheet yang akan memudahkan setiap orang mengakses dan mengisinya. Setelah nominasi selesai, akan dilakukan tahap seleksi syarat umum oleh panitia IFA, setelah itu karya IFA akan dikirimkan kepada juri IFA 2010 untuk dinilai sesuai parameter yang sudah ditetapkan. Pada akhirnya, akan diambil 3 sampai 5 karya dengan poin tertinggi dari setiap kategori untuk di-polling. Polling akan dilakukan di tempat yang lebih umum diakses (diusahakan tidak di Infantrum seperti tahun lalu, karena banyak yang tidak ikut polling karena tidak mendaftar di Infantrum). Rentang karya dan author yang berhak dinominasikan dalam IFA 2010 adalah yang terhitung dari 1 November 2009 sampai 31 Oktober 2010. Persyaratan lain akan dicantumkan dalam lembar nominasi dan akan diseleksi oleh panitia sebelum diteruskan ke juri.

D. Panitia IFA 2010

Tahun ini, masih bertahan dua panitia IFA tahun sebelumnya: fariacchi dan Sanich Iyonni. Tahun ini juga dikenalkan dua panitia baru untuk IFA 2010, yaitu: Cattleya Queen dan heylalaa.

Selain empat orang di atas, IFA 2010 akan dibantu oleh tim humas IFA 2010. Tim humas adalah sekumpulan orang yang mengajukan diri untuk bertanggung jawab dalam sosialisasi selama IFA 2010 berlangsung. Humas resmi IFA 2010 memegang fandom-fandom tertentu tempatnya menyosialisasikan IFA dan hasil kerjanya dipantau oleh panitia IFA. Sedangkan humas tak resmi adalah author-author yang bersedia ikut mempromosikan IFA 2010 ke berbagai fandom tanpa batasan dan tidak terikat (bersifat sukarela).

E. Syarat-syarat Nominasi IFA 2010

1). Nominasi hanya dapat dilakukan selama rentang waktu yang sudah disediakan (tanggal 1 November sampai 25 Desember 2010).

2). Nominasi dilakukan dengan mengisi online-sheet yang link-nya akan disebarkan ketika waktu nominasi dimulai. Keterangan tata cara pengisian serta syarat setiap nominasi akan tercantum pada online-sheet tersebut. Secara umum, syarat utama karya yang berhak dinominasikan adalah yang di-publish terhitung rentang IFA 2010, yaitu 1 November 2009 sampai 31 Oktober 2010.

3). Karya fanfiksi yang boleh dinominasikan adalah karya yang berbahasa Indonesia. Fandom dan Rating BEBAS. Genre menyesuaikan dengan kategori. Satu karya/satu nama author BOLEH dinominasikan untuk kategori berbeda sesuai kebutuhan.

4). Pada Kategori Fanfiction, masing-masing sub-kategori akan dibagi menjadi dua spesialisasi: OneShot dan MultiChapter. OneShot adalah karya yang tamat dalam satu chapter. MultiChapter adalah karya yang terdiri dari dua chapter isi atau lebih, baik sudah tamat maupun masih in-progress. Khusus untuk spesialisasi MultiChapter yang bersifat in-progress, karya yang boleh dinominasikan adalah karya yang TIDAK DISCONTINUED dan TIDAK BELUM di-UPDATE selama enam bulan atau lebih.

5). Nominasi yang masuk akan diseleksi kelayakan syarat oleh panitia, kemudian akan diseleksi oleh juri IFA 2010 untuk mempersempit nominasi menjadi 3 sampai 5 karya setiap kategori.

6). Penominasi diizinkan menominasikan karya sendiri.

Catatan: Sub-kategori yang wajib diisi adalah 12 kategori (boleh dikosongkan 4). Setiap kategori boleh mengisi salah satu saja (hanya Oneshot atau hanya Multichapter), atau dua-duanya (Oneshot dan Multichapter).

-Untuk Best Diction dan Best Ideas yang boleh dinominasikan adalah author yang sudah mem-publish minimal tujuh fanfiksi dalam rentang 1 November 2009 s.d. 31 Oktober 2010.

-Untuk Best Newcomer, yang boleh dinominasikan adalah author yang bergabung di Fanfiction.Net dalam rentang 1 November 2009 s.d. 31 Oktober 2010 dan sudah mem-publish minimal lima fanfiksi dalam rentang tersebut

-Untuk Best Collaboration, yang boleh dinominasikan adalah akun yang sudah mem-publish minimal satu fanfiksi dalam rentang 1 November 2009 s.d. 31 Oktober 2010.

-Untuk Best Reviewer tidak harus author (boleh hanya reader dan reviewer), yang penting memiliki akun di Fanfiction.Net (bukan anonymous).

-Kelima sub-kategori di atas wajib diisi.

3. Kategori Favorit

Sub-Kategori:

a) The Most Favorite Fanfiction for OneShot

b) The Most Favorite Fanfiction for MultiChapter

c) The Most Favorite Author

d) The Most Favorite Fandom

Catatan:

-Keempat sub-kategori di atas wajib diisi

-The Most Favorite Fandom diisi dengan fandom yang paling nyaman dan menyenangkan bagi penominasi.

4. Kategori Special Awards

b) Best Infantrum Challenge, dengan spesialisasi:

*Best Challenge

*Best Challenger

Keterangan:

-Sub-kategori Special Awards ini tidak wajib diisi.

-Event yang boleh dinominasikan dalam Best Event adalah event-event fanfiksi Indonesia, misalnya event fandom atau perayaan hari pairing.

-Best Challenge adalah untuk menominasikan challenge-nya, Best Challenger adalah untuk menominasikan orang yang memberi challenge, sedangkan Best Challenge Entries untuk menominasikan karya yang dibuat untuk challenge.

G. Rewards

Seperti ajang penghargaan pada umumnya, IFA tahun ini berusaha menyediakan bukti tanda menang bagi pemenang nanti--selain kebanggaan tersendiri yang pastinya akan dirasakan karena memenangkan ajang penghargaan fanfiksi se-Indonesia. Karena IFA bersifat online, panitia belum bisa menyediakan tanda menang berupa materi riil. Oleh karena itu, panitia (Cattleya Queen) akan membuatkan icon (penjelasan lebih lanjut akan dijelaskan oleh Catt-san nanti). Selain itu, panitia akan memberi review kepada fanfiksi yang menang lewat akun resmi IFA di Fanfiction.Net (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/2547751) dan memfavoritkan fanfiksi-fanfiksi pemenang. Mohon maklumi keterbatasan kami dan berpuas hatilah dengan apa yang bisa kami sediakan.

H. Juri IFA 2010

Juri IFA 2010 adalah author fanfiksi Indonesia yang telah bersedia membantu proses penyempitan seleksi nominasi kategori fanfiksi yang masuk untuk siap di-polling-kan. Juri IFA 2010 hanya akan menjurikan kategori karya fanfiksi (oneshot dan multichapter untuk setiap genre).

Seberapa bisa juri IFA 2010 dipercaya?

Tidak perlu khawatir. Panitia telah menyiapkan sistem penilaian karya yang dapat terukur secara kuantitatif. Sistem penilaian tersebut akan membuat setiap penilaian yang dilakukan juri menjadi objektif.

Bagaimana jika juri IFA menjurikan karyanya sendiri?

Tidak masalah. Karena setiap karya akan dinilai dengan parameter penilaian terukur, sehingga objektivitas tidak bergantung pada author dari karya yang bersangkutan. Selain itu, panitia IFA 2010 akan mengawasi ketat jalannya proses penjurian.
